International Proficiency Certificate
The Sailing Club encourages its skippers to obtain sufficient formal training to qualify for an International Proficiency Certificate. This certificate is required by many European nations and increasingly by other nations whose waters we enjoy sailing. In order for the Club to organize trips in these places, we need skippers who are certified.
As an encouragement to our skippers, the Club makes a one-time reward of $150 to any skipper who has the certificate (whether they earn it while a member of the Club, while already a Club skipper, or if they join the Club already in possession of it). This amount is not intended to cover the actual cost of the training required by the various sailing organizations that offer the certificate. It is intended to cover the cost of the certificate itself and incidentals (e.g., a photograph of the skipper). The Club does not reimburse for renewals after the first $150 payment.
